Sofia Vergara was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia.Her
father, Julio, provides cattle to the meat industry.She then went on to
study pre-Dentistry at Colombia University.At age 23, she was a runway
model.
Her first film role was Big Trouble (2002). Her breakthrough role was
as “Gloria Delgado-Pritchett” in the American TV series, “Modern
Family” (2009). In 2011, she received an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series” for this role.
After consistently being voted one of the world’s sexiest women by a
host of men’s magazines, Hollywood finally came calling with supporting
roles in a number of films.
